About Ecuador Translations
Founded by Chip Moreno — an American expat in Cuenca helping fellow expats navigate Ecuador's document requirements.

I'm Chip Moreno, and I started Ecuador Translations because I know firsthand how frustrating it is to navigate document requirements in a foreign country.
I'm an American expat living in Cuenca, Ecuador. I hold a Computer Science degree and I'm an EA candidate (Part 1 Passed) working toward becoming a fully credentialed Enrolled Agent for US tax matters. I founded Iterative Systems LLC to build services that solve real problems for expats — the kind of problems I've experienced myself.
When I went through the Ecuador visa process, I ran into the same wall that every expat hits: figuring out which documents needed translations, what kind of certification each agency required, and finding translators who actually understood Ecuador's system. Generic translation services didn't cut it — they produced technically accurate translations that got rejected because they weren't formatted the way the Cancilleria or SENESCYT expected.
After helping hundreds of expats through the visa process at EcuaPass.com (our visa services platform), I saw the same translation problems come up again and again. Documents getting bounced back. Deadlines missed because of formatting issues. Expats paying twice for translations that should have been done right the first time.
So I built Ecuador Translations to fix that. We partner with certified native-Spanish translators who specialize in official Ecuadorian document translation. You get the quality of a professional translation service with the personal touch of working directly with a fellow American who understands your situation.

Every American who moves to Ecuador faces the same realization: your entire life is documented in English, and Ecuador runs on Spanish. Your birth certificate, your diplomas, your background check, your marriage certificate, your pension statements — every single one needs a certified Spanish translation before any Ecuadorian agency will look at it.
The problem isn't just translation — it's knowing which translation format each agency accepts, which documents need apostilles first, and how to avoid the small formatting mistakes that cause rejections. I watched expats get burned by this over and over through my work at EcuaPass: paying for translations that weren't formatted correctly, missing deadlines because documents got bounced back, dealing with translators who didn't understand the difference between what the Cancilleria requires and what SENESCYT requires.
I built Ecuador Translations to be the service I wished had existed when I first arrived. One point of contact. Translators who know exactly what each Ecuadorian agency expects. Transparent pricing. Fast turnaround. And an American on the other end who actually understands what you're going through.
